Naim Syahrazad – A dancer/Choreographer from Malaysia.

NaimNaim Syahrazad is a principle dancer-choreographer with Malaysia’s National Art, Culture and Heritage Academy (ASWARA) and is a full-time dancer with the ASWARA Dance Company. He holds a Bachelor of Dance with Honours (Choreography) and a Diploma in Dance from ASWARA, Malaysia. He has performed extensively in traditional and contemporary performances working with important Malaysian choreographers. His international projects include performances in Singapore, the Philippines, Indonesia, Australia and the United States. He was part of the ASWARA Dance Company that represented Malaysia at the World Championship of Performing Arts 2010 in Los Angeles, winning five gold medals and the title of World Champion in the duet with Suhaili Micheline. He also awarded the Best Male Dancer in KLPAC’s Short and Sweet Festival 2009 and 2011 and best Modern Dancer at the National Ballet Competition in 2012 as well as gaining a Consolation Prize. He then performed as one of the Ugly Sisters in Wan Chin’s ballet Cinderella, as well as in Carmen at the National Theatre in KL. Naim was selected for the Asia Pacific Young Choreographer’s Project in Taiwan 2011 and worked with Riki Von Falken in the Kuala Lumpur production of Echo II in December 2011. He subsequently developed this work with the same choreographer for a performance series in Germany and Brazil entitled Echo – It’s a Temporary Thing in 2012 and 2013. He was a finalist in MyDance Alliance’s Dance Escalator.
